This is our unofficial State of the UX Practice address to attempt to share what the hell is going on with JLR INTERACTIVE…

1) So what did we just do?

Well we hate to brag, but we sold out ALL three of our July workshops at Opodz in Downtown LA! Google Glass Workshop with Jaime Levy/Cecilia Abadie (July 25, 2013)

2) What are we doing now? (August = OOO)

Jaime has begun writing a top secret UX book for O’Reilly Media at a top secret library in Pasadena! Paul is still leading UX for Cisco and got married. Congrats to Paul and Tiffany! Sarah is monitoring Jaime’s writing progress while she writes her own master’s thesis! Yes, we do other things in life besides strategize and design digital products!

1. Sarah’s “A Hands-On Introduction to Building Wireframes” on September 10th at General Assembly in Santa Monica
2. Sarah’s “Intro to UX Documentation Using Omnigraffle” on September 12th at General Assembly in Santa Monica
3. Jaime’s UCLA Extension UX II (UX Strategy) course starting September 24th is now open for registration.
4. JLR Interactive is producing another “UX Design for Glassholes” workshop October 30th. (The first one sold out fast so we’re bringing it back this time to the West Side!)

Class Description:With the surge in online startups, entrepreneurs and their teams need a User Experience Strategy to differentiate their product from the competition. Through business cases and current work samples, students will learn to how to conduct a UX Gap Analysis (on the online marketplace), perform Guerrilla User Researcher (for your MVP), and scope a startup’s roadmap using a Feature Value Matrix and extensible Site Maps. This class will expose how online success can be achieved by focusing on both disruptive design and customer acquisition techniques. Spreadsheet templates will also be shared so students can implement these tools immediately.

Level: This is an intermediate level course created for students with familiarity with the practice of User Experience Design or Business/Product Strategy. If you know nothing about either, you might feel lost.

Required Materials: Laptop or iPad suggested but not needed. Google account required to access takeaway spreadsheets
